HEY
so i have to admit, when i was considering how to follow up the “Biggest Wanger Contest” – i thought going with a “Prettiest Pucker” Contest was even too lowbrow for even me. Well imagine my surprise when the contestants started literally pouring in! Many more than Wanger contestants! It’s a daunting task sifting thru pics of, but one i feel i’m uniquely qualified to do.
A few of you wrote in: “No Daniel! Not a hole contest! Why not do a prettiest butt contest?”
And i must admit i asked myself the same question- but then i realized, EVERY drag queen has done “Best Butt Contest” and i’ve yet to see someone give homage to that most intimate of places- the male pucker.

I love Love LOVE Buck these days! If you were at the last one you can concur- it’s the jamminest mix of younger and older, hot and not so hot, those who love to be admired and those who love admiring, dancey, yet cocks-out kind of party! Someone came up to me and said during the night: “This reminds me of the vibe at The Slide” which i took that as a supreme compliment.

DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH TINA???
(Tina Louise aka Ginger visits The Flaes Library for the acclaimed show)
Remember when i wrote you about the show at The Fales Library about 6 weeks ago? Well that show is soon closing and i would love it if you would try to see it before it does (April 29th) and if you are so inclined, purchase a piece as the funds go completely to Friends In Deed. See New York Times piece on the artist and exhibit at the bottom here.
New York Universityâs Fales Library and Special Collections presents âAt Moments Like These He Feels Furthest Away,â a new series of paintings by painter Philip Monaghan at NYUâs Bobst Library, 3rd Floor, 70 Washington Square South, (at LaGuardia Place). [Subways A,C,E, B,D,M to West 4th Street; 6 line to Astor Place; R train to 8th Street.].
The exhibit, based on Tim Dlugos’ mid-1970s poem “Gilligan’s Island” , will include 54 works of oil and digital prints on canvas as well a graphic depiction of the text of the poem on the gallery walls.
Dlugos was a central figure among the young downtown New York poetry scene of the 70s and 80s. His books include Je Suis Ein Americano, 1979, Entre Nous, 1982, and Strong Place, 1992. Posthumous volumes include Powerless, 1996, and A Fast Life, 2011, both edited by David Trinidad. Dlugos’ papers are in the Downtown Collection at the Fales Library.
“At Moments”, is the realization of a commission from former NYU Grey Gallery Director Bob Littman in 1983 as collaboration between poet Tim Dlugos and painter Philip Monaghan. Dlugos died of AIDS in 1990 before the collaboration could be completed.
“In 2007, with the support of David Trinidad, Dlugos poetry editor, I revisited the unfulfilled “Gilligan’s Island” project by creating a series of watercolors and oils that interpret the poem, said Monaghan. Fales accepted the show in 2009, and I am pleased to have it back at NYU, where it began.”
LOVE,
